Sharon Bushman - New York City Proposal and Wedding Photographer

Originally from Livonia, Michigan, I graduated from Western Michigan University with a theatre degree. I then moved across the Atlantic and made London, England my home. While there, I attended Mountview Theatre School and lived the life of a struggling actress. After 7 wonderful years, it was time to return to the States and try my luck in the Big Apple.
Well, life happens, priorities change, and I discover a tremendous passion for photography. I was particularly fond of portrait photography and decided that I could merge my two "loves" by taking headshots for performers.
Then, I had an opportunity to do a Surprise Proposal photo shoot and that was it! I was immediately bitten by the love bug! Shooting engagements and weddings makes me a happy girl! Getting to share such a special day with the couple and their friends and family is a truly awesome experience.

ryan + erin – surprise proposal in Central Park

Everyone knows how much I love shooting proposals. Well I love it even more when the couple is as cool as Ryan and Erin. They flew in all the way from Canada and Ryan popped the question on a gorgeous Monday morning in September. Erin was SOOOO excited and surprised! She’s a fellow photographer so, needless to say, she was thrilled that Ryan was thoughtful enough to hire me!

I am so honored to be a part of this important day. I had a really amazing time and I wish you both all the very best. You’re awesome. Thank you for making my first proposal post baby easy and so fun!

taylor + amanda – surprise proposal in central park, nyc

This past December Taylor flew his girlfriend Amanda from the City of Angels to the Big Apple to pop the question in Central Park! Bow Bridge was the proposal spot and just to make it even more cool, Taylor also hired a musician to casually play as they got there and specifically “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz once he went down on one knee. Well, little did we know that just a mere minute before Taylor and Amanda showed up, ANOTHER couple proposed! It was crazy! The musician starts playing “I’m Yours” and I’m trying to signal him that it’s the wrong couple but Taylor and Amanda were walking towards the bridge so I had to start photographing. In the end, it worked out perfectly and Amanda was so surprised! The other couple that had just gotten engaged congratulated them (I can’t help but think that the guy felt one-upped by Taylor what with a musician AND a photographer…haha! Score another one for Taylor!).

Taylor and Amanda, you are such a wonderful couple. Your laughter was contagious and love for each other SO obvious. Thank you for letting me in on this monumental day in your lives.

mike + katie – surprise proposal at top of the rock, NYC

Early in the morning on the first day of 2012, Mike proposed to Katie on top of Rockefeller Center’s observation deck Top of the Rock. He surprised Katie first with a trip to NYC from Michigan and then with a beautiful diamond ring! When Mike emailed me about photographing this proposal, we decided that the morning would be best to avoid the crowds and it worked out great. The bright sun and brilliant blue skies were the backdrop for a perfect day! What a way to start 2012!

Thank you Mike and Katie for making my job so much fun. It was my pleasure to be a part such a big day in your lives. Say hello to Michigan for me!
