Danny + Alysia : Nantucket wedding at The White Elephant

I am SO excited to blog this wedding.

Danny wrote to me back in November of ’09 when he was proposing to his girlfriend Alysia and wanted me to photograph it.   I remember thinking, “Man, it’s a shame they live in Boston, I’d love to shoot their wedding”.  It was just one of those things where we all just immediately clicked.  So when they asked me to photograph their wedding I was absolutely THRILLED!  It truly meant the world to me.

On June 10th in Nantucket, I got to photograph a beautiful wedding with the most beautiful couple.  I had such an amazing time.  Their family and friends couldn’t have been more warm and lovely.   Alysia got ready at a house her family had rented and then we got a car to The White Elephant where their ceremony and reception would take place.    The White Elephant is just gorgeous and the staff were so nice and accommodating (I stayed there as well with my room being conveniently located 10 paces from the reception space!)  All the florals (sooooooo amazing) were designed by the very talented Kelley Sousa at Alchemy Flowers.  The wedding cake was dozens of cupcakes freshly baked by Alysia’s mother!  I can still remember the yummy cream cheese  frosting!  And, of course, how could I forget Daphne and Duncan the daschund’s as part of the wedding party (Duncan was ring bearer with a little pillow around his neck!)

So without further ado, here are some of my favorites from the day.  CLICK HERE FOR THEIR SLIDESHOW!

Troy and Lissette : Proposal in Central Park – nyc

Troy proposed to Lissette on a beautiful evening in Central Park.  He had written to me asking if I would photograph the moment and said he’d like to propose on a gondola!   This sounds super romantic and wonderful, however, I had my reservations about it.  Mainly from a photography stand point as it leaves me with less control of the situation.  If the gondolier doesn’t put the boat in the right position, I could miss her reaction completely.   In the end, I decided to go with it and I am so glad I did.  It WAS super romantic and wonderful and the gondolier did great job!  Troy and Lissette are such a great couple.  It really was such a pleasure spending the evening with them.

Troy and Lissette, thank you for trusting me with such an important task!  I had a blast!  I’ll never forget the Ram and the runners in their underwear!

Here are some of my favorites and, as always, CLICK HERE FOR THEIR SLIDESHOW!!   The slideshow is the best way to see the story unfold!

I love this shot.  He’s smiling right at me and she’s none the wiser!

Her reaction is priceless!

This is why I like to shoot before sunset….Look at that gorgeous light!

Percy + Hollis – An NYC Wedding : Empire Hotel and Central Park Arsenal

It was a real joy to photograph this wedding.  I’ve known Percy and Hollis for about 4 years.  When I was first starting my little photography business,  they helped me build my portfolio shooting their headshots.   A few years later he popped the question and I was honored to shoot their engagement photos.  So when Hollis asked me to shoot their wedding as well, I was very excited indeed!  Hollis got ready at the Empire Hotel while Percy got ready a few blocks away at his father’s apartment.  They did a first look on the rooftop bar of the Empire while dozens of bathing suit clad onlookers cheered them on!  After a few photos around the area, we headed to Christ and St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church for the ceremony.   The reception was held at the Central Park Arsenal.  Despite a few threatening drops of rain, it ended up clearing completely and the whole evening was just perfect.

Something else really cool and unique was that they hired a company called Storymix MediaStorymix provided them with HD Flip camcorders and then Hollis and Percy distributed them to trusted guests to capture the day.  After the wedding, they sent the Flips back to Storymix who then edit the footage captured and create a video for them!  Such a great, alternative idea to a traditional video!

Hollis and Percy, it’s been such a pleasure being your photographer through the years!   Here are a few (ok, A LOT) of my favorites from the day.
